Meghan Markle breaks the internet for Montreal’s Mackage

Meghan Markle wears $790 coat by Montreal’s Mackage and breaks the website

It was a big surprise for Montreal label when their website traffic exploded by Meghan Markle showcasing thier $790 coat.  Although Meghan Markle has been a great supporter of Mackage for around past seven to eight years but this time it was a big hit.

Meghan Markle was spotted wearing a long a navy double-breasted wool coat while attending the Terrace Higgins World AIDS day charity fair at Nottingham, England. The Khaki pleated skirt she wore underneath by British label Joseph.

The company knew she owned several of their pieces but had no idea that this time it gonna hit so many people. There were only four of these jackets left in the company’s online store and they sold out within minutes of Markle appearing online.

“Our website traffic exploded,” Thibault said. “We had a 500 per cent increase today… mostly all in Europe, because North America (was) just waking up.”

Markle has been spotted many times wearing Canadian brands like in September, she wore a Bordeaux-coloured Mackage leather jacket to the opening ceremony of the Invictus Games. That color too sold out within 24 hours, and other colors following quickly.

On Monday, Markle wore a white wool wrap coat by Toronto brand Line the Label, which was quickly sold out and renamed as “Meghan”.

Markle has supported many other Canadian designers as well, including luxury designers like Jason Wu and Erdem, high end brands like Sentaler and Smythe, and mid range retail brand Aritzia.

Thibault said other celebrities have worn Mackage but no one has made quite the same impact that Markle is having now.
